Indian Cheated of Rs 6.73 Lakhs by Classmate in the Name of Sending him to America

World News, May 14, 2023. An Indian resident from Panipat district, In Punjab, Sahil, was allegedly cheated by his classmate Bhavnesh Dhingda of Rs 6.73 lakh in the name of sending him to America. The case highlights the growing trend of online frauds and the need for awareness among people to avoid such scams.

According to Sahit’s father, Mukesh Chand, Bhavnesh had befriended his son during his B-Pharma studies at Kurukshetra University. Bhavnesh had promised to send Sahit to America at his own expense and return the money after earning it. He even claimed to have a business worth crores and a job for Sahit’s uncle in Delhi.

However, after taking Rs 70,000 from Sahit, Bhavnesh started demanding money for different expenses, including tickets and fares. He even sent a fake visa and flight tickets. When it was time to go to America, Bhavnesh called Sahit from a different number and snatched his chain, iPad, purse, etc. in Delhi. He even sent a fake FIR of Delhi Police to Sahit’s WhatsApp, which was found to be forged after investigation.

On the complaint of Sahit’s father, the police have registered a case against Bhavnesh under various sections. However, Bhavnesh threatened to kill Sahit after the complaint. The case highlights the growing trend of online frauds and the need for awareness among people to avoid such scams.

The police have urged people to be cautious while making any financial transaction and verify the authenticity of the person and the deal before investing any money. They have also advised people to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
